Elias Mauro Hinojosa, known professionally as Broken Lens, is an emerging rapper from Erie, Colorado. He fell in love with making hip-hop music because it allows him to express his deepest ideas in a way that resonates with the masses for a lifetime. Using an introspective, passionate, and melodic style, Broken Lens has captivated hip-hop fans in the Denver area. His music is designed to allow the listener to understand and experience even the most complex emotions in life. Broken Lens debuted his rap career with a bang, performing shows in Denver, being featured in various media publications such as On the Rise, and shooting music videos in the area, namely a big picture recently with Void Studios. Broken Lens truly has no filter, and he strives to unleash the pure hero in all of us, so we can conquer even the most intricate world issues together. Broken Lens found his love for music young, ensuring to take every opportunity to learn everything he could about the profession. He was always taking music classes, and performing in choirs and theatrical productions. Since Broken Lens was 17, he has been mastering the skill of producing beats, engineering vocals, and creating professional songs. He always loved this hobby, but explored many other career paths, such as psychology, neuroscience, biomedical engineering, and more. Finally, when he turned 21, Broken Lens decided to debut his hip-hop music with an EP called Lovesick. However, his rap name was not Broken Lens yet, instead he had always been called The Man. This striking nickname was given to him by some of his closest friends, as a joke but also because Broken Lens is obviously the man. He used The Man as his rap name to signal to the world that he doesn't bend to the will of The Man, rather, he is The Man. Broken Lens uses his former rap name, The Man, as an alter ego, allowing him to act as flagrant, and defiant as he wants. He makes sure to assert in his music that he will never be a slave to the system, the government, or any institution. The Man was created by Elias Hinojosa to inspire future generations to stand up to The Man, and strive for a world of freedom and positivity. The young MC used this mischievous alter ego to create most of his first songs in his catalogue, as well as a large special project that we will see released by Broken Lens in the near future, so stay tuned. As good as the idea of The Man was, Elias Hinojosa realized that if he really wanted to shatter the normal way of thinking of the general public, he needed a name that more accurately represents that idea. That's when he found the name Broken Lens, to demonstrate to the public that he truly is trying to break the average lens that most people look through, and change the way we perceive the world for the better.
Now, Broken Lens is looking forward to a year of highly anticipated releases, variously sized projects that dig deep into what it really means to be human. He also plans to start doing more concerts all over Colorado, and potentially expand his reach throughout the nation. Broken Lens is gearing up to produce a lot more than some hit songs this year; he will be serving the internet with the most raw, unique, and inspiring artist content he can.
